Who We Are

The story of the Well begins with a small group of people who were open to the call of God, no matter the cost. In 2019, God began to place upon the hearts of these individuals a common call—though at different times and in different ways. That call was to start a new church in Greenville, which would be a place of refreshment and renewal for all people—whether hurting, searching, disgraced, rejected, or devoted. Though the idea of starting a church was not what they had in mind, they were committed to finding God’s will and then joining Him. So, they stepped out in certain faith, toward an uncertain place.

After accepting the call, whatever it may be, they began praying and seeking answers to what God’s purpose was for them: were they supposed to do something, go somewhere, give something, join something, or simply rest in him for a season? Over the course of time, with much prayer, God began to lay on their hearts, individually and independently, that he was calling them to plant a church—something none had done, nor desired to do. They, questioned why we need yet another church, and how they could do this without a Pastor and only a small flock; nevertheless, they had already pledged to follow wherever He leads, if He will lead clearly.

So they began meeting, praying, studying the Scriptures together, and over time God brought more and more to their little gathering. As they stayed faithful, God stayed faithful, and He began to build his church (or, perhaps to dig The Well). As the congregation continued to grow, the Well Church was ready to call their first Pastor. Naturally they called a Pastor who also had no experience planting a church nor any previous Lead Pastor experience; but he was the one God was leading them to, and he, like they, was committed to following God faithfully, wherever he leads. In August of 2020, Paul Faseler was called as the first Pastor of The Well.

The church has continued to grow and has now found a semi-permanent location at Greenville High School. The church continues to follow the singular mandate which birthed them some years before: stay faithful to the Lord and follow his will, and he will build his church.
