Helping
We are intentionally broad in our choice of the word “help” for two reasons. First, we are committed to any and all strategies if they can help people to discover and experience the goodness of following Jesus. Our strategies are not ultimate nor eternal, they are simply meant to “help” and so long as they can, we will continue to utilize them--if not, we'll try something else. Second, we use “help” because that is all we have the power to do. We can only help, we cannot do. No church or person can cause another to joyfully follow Jesus. God’s Spirit works with the individual’s will to accomplish salvation. But, the Well is committed to help—both the Spirit and the individual see and experience the goodness of following Jesus.
Generations
We feel God has called us to a multi-generational ministry. Thus, we are intentional about helping people in every generation experience the goodness of following Jesus—and to do so, together. We believe there is intrinsic value in bringing generations together in the family of God, to learn from each other, to display unique gifts, and encourage one another. Finally, every generation needs the help of the church (and every generation can help the church) to experience the goodness of following Jesus. We must not wait till we are older to follow, but neither can we “retire” from our service of our Lord.
Goodness Of Following
We believe that when Jesus says He has come that we may have life, it means simply that (John 10:10). Jesus’ desire for us is that we experience abundant life, now and for all eternity. We further believe that this life is found only in faithful obedience to his call. So, we don't follow Jesus to earn salvation or blessings—or even because it is morally right (though it is). We follow because He, himself, is our good. Thus, we seek not simply to make converts to a belief system, but joyful followers of Jesus—because we believe this is eternal life.
Jesus
Finally, we are a church that follows Jesus. He is our God and King, and is the head of the Church which is his body. Much more is said about Jesus in our beliefs, but as it regards our mission, He is the one we follow; for in Him is all goodness and joy, forever.
